It is yet to be confirmed officially, but rumors are being spread that the officials of Royal Challengers Bangalore are discussing to change their official name from Royal Challengers Bangalore to Royal Challengers Bangaluru.
The story begins back in 2014, when the city Bangalore officially decided to change their name to Bangaluru due to the locals pronunciation of their land. So after 2014 the name of the official team wasn’t changed till the last season of IPL which was bugged by a lot of fans. They felt that the team’s name should be matching with the official city name.
As of recent reports RCB are teasing on their social media about name changing the official name of the team. Even if the changed their name, it will be a way for the official RCB management staffs to show the fans the team’s identity and culture belongs to Bengaluru. Through this step by the team officials it will make the fans even more connected to the team. But it also have some downside to it, as everyone knows the name RCB because of its popularity all over India and by changing the name from “ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE” to “ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALURU” a lot of confusions will be created between the fans. Also a lot of old merchandises will be unusable as the old logos in them will be containing the old name.
Even though having all the hardshifts, the ending always gets bothered to some good thing that overweighs the bad things. By this decision the team could make a long run. After all this, the decision is at perfect timing as RCB are going to have a new captain Faf du plesis which is itself is a fresh start and by this decision the team will have a new era and a way to leave & learn from the past.
